- wanted : dx5 mutoh windows communication program for printhead statusIn UV PRINTING SUPPORT·March 28, 2023Hello, When I first installed my printer an iuv600 , a Mutoh printer with an Epson DX5 printhead, it had some kind of printhead communication program that would somehow check the status of the printhead, sometimes it gave a waring about it not firing correctly. When we got new computers and we reinstalled everything, the program was noticeably quiet. Does this sound familiar to anyone with dx5 printheads? If you have or have access to the program in question, could it be shared? Thanks ant1854
- Seasoned print tech (both ink /laser)new hereIn WELCOME·March 28, 2023I've been working on inkjet printers since bubblejets were phazed out(were they?) Here's my question, or the one asked most the time from me: What are the differences in all the Epson DX5 print heads, other than water and solvent. There are locked heads, unlocked heads, black fpc, green fpc, four-color, six-color.... and lets say mine uses a green 30pin fpc, as long as i use a green fpc one will that work? or I have a machine that uses or has 4 whites connected instead of 2 whites and 2 clears, will that head work any differently or is it still the same? I am almost done making a low pressure head cleaner for the dx5 head, because the professional model is cost prohibitive. I just found this site and it makes me wonder, how come all these companies are based or shipping out of Florida? Thanks for having me and keeping me informed. ant1237
- Changing a dx5 from cmykccww to cmykx2In UV PRINTING SUPPORT·July 16, 2023Hello IDPS. I have successfully changed a dx5 printhead output style. OK maybe its no big news but how often are you really using white when printing on white choroplast?? The next question is how are you effectively using your 8 outputs?? When I found out our RIP program supported a dual CMYK setup, I immediately went about adjusting for a change. Forget if management even had a say in the matter. Didnt matter, I already was thinking ahead of them. So obviously I had to split all the CMYK lines to 2 each, eliminate the 4block of white split. Which also means no more annoying mix timer!! My first setup was KCMYKXXX. , which resulted in a dark black and white image, almost burnt looking. Not right. So after all the "y" split came in , I was able to complete and use all 8 outputs , KCMYKCMY. Still not right everything looked like a Tim Burton movie!! The final setup was KCMYYMCK, That was the winner, got my nozzle check, which actually didnt help me, but made me realize the the head could be doing so much more. Tried it out on anything we did previously, winner all the way around.1217
- Curing OvenIn DTF PRINTING SUPPORTJune 13, 2023Angel, Does it ever get above 21 Celsius? What temp are you trying to get it up to? Are the bulbs showing anything (are they turning red at all)?......I agree that it's strange that it won't heat up. And I understand that the control board is the same as before, but something must be missing. If I were in your shoes I would start by complete redoing the repair. Making sure that nothing was missed and everything is installed correctly. If problems persists after that, then I would insure that the oven is getting the correct voltage and amps. Those little ovens usually pull around 20 amps to get to heat settings. My bet is that either a cable is in the wrong spot on the control board or terminals, or for some reason the oven isn't getting enough amperage to hit temp. Start by checking voltage at the plug, then voltage at the terminal block. If your settings are correct and nothing is loose, then I would look at the amperage and voltage. You could have bad heat bulbs, but it would be weird if they all went bad at once, unless there was some kind of electrical short that caused the oven to malfunction in the first place. In that scenario I could imagine that maybe all the bulbs went too. My suggestions: 1. Triple check the repair work, make sure EVERYTHING connected correctly. If no results go to step 2. 2. Make sure the outlet is providing proper voltage and amperage (this is where I think the problem is, just a guess) If everything is good there, then step 3. 3. Replace bulbs I hope any of this helps.1
