How To Replace a Printhead on a Epson L1800

Replace the printhead on Epson L1800/R1390 printer:

1. Remove the Upper Housing / Printer Cover to begin replacing printer printhead.

2. Release the Carriage Lock, and move the Carriage Unit to the center.

3. Release the dowel and two hooks of the Cable Holder, and remove the printhead cables.

4. Using the special tool, disengage tab A of the Adapter Guide Holder on the right rear side of the Carriage Unit. This step is tricky the tabs of the ink chip reader need to be pushed back at the same time, try to use two tools. Start with the tab on the right first, push tab back leave tool inserted, then use second tool to push back left tab. Becareful not damage the printhead cables or the printhead itself during this step.

5. Using the special tool, disengage tab B of the Adapter Guide Holder on the right rear side of the Carriage Unit.

6. Lift the Adapter Guide Holder and remove it. After removing the ink chip reader adapter, you will have full access to replace the printhead on the Epson L1800.

7. Remove the three C.B.P. M2.6 x 8 screws that secure the printhead using the

Phillips Screw Driver, No.1, and vertically lift the Printhead to remove it. Most of the Epson printers are basically the same process for replacing the printhead.

8. Disconnect the two printheadead cables on the back side, and remove the printhead from the Epson L1800.

PRECAUTIONS:

Always power system down before performing any of the procedures above. Cover working area with dry rags to avoid ink contamination.

Be VERY careful with printhead cables when replacing the printhead in an Epson L1800 or any printer, they damage easily and typically are much harder to replace than the printhead itself.
